Jourdan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez, Arlenis Sosa, and Chanel Iman (in i-D)
This to me was an excellent 2009 cover that reveals Edward Enninful’s, the Fashion Director, reaching to the depths of his creative mastermind. The four girls look great drenched in colors from the 90’s and shot by the talented photographer Emma Summerton. These ladies were truly captured in their best for the September 2009 cover. This is to those who couldn’t get their hands on this magazine.
Fall Stylism
Last night I was on a mission to hit more than one mall. Mission accomplished and I have to tell you, it is time to be out and about on a wardrobe update. The prices are varied and even the recessionista/ fashionista/stylista (if there are such words!) should be out there to delve into that sartorial world. So I decided to check some fall upcoming swag:
Kris van Assche Bring Range in Style
Meet the creations of Dior’s own master-mind, Kris van Assche. In a Paris season characterized by arcane inspirations, Kris van Assche found his in les hommes-fleurs, a tribe of Arabian warriors who unabashedly adorn themselves with flowers. He was equally turned on by photos of elegant old Van Assches from the Belle Epoque. So the central idea is that, there are different ways for men to be masculine. Check more of him here
A more classy take: A grunge effect:
We already know Van Assche is both rigorous and romantic but we now also know that he’s able to mold one fashion into many adaptable versions. He can move from his dressy signature look into a more street vibe casual fit. Check out these grunge/hip-hop/streeter boots. They definitely have a range of style:
And then there’s the light tan look:
Oscar De La Renta Fuming
Oscar De La Renta fumed and huffed and puffed about the sweater that Michelle Obama wore to meet the queen of England way back earlier on this year. “You don’t show up at Buckingham Palace…in a sweater.” he fumed like a wounded child. I’m guessing he’s resenting Michelle since she never wore his line to up the sales. This reccesionist chica is well known for rocking low-profile labels like: Isabel Toledo & Jason Wu. So we fail here and there in fashion so what?? Michelle is not in some high school where she needs to compete with the trend following zombies. You wear what you like. Oscar we love your work but stop seeing the First Lady as a walking advertisement waiting to be milked as a cash cow. Careful what you say the white house won’t be calling soon!
This woman is inspiring fashion lines:
