From the moment Max reached out to offer to help me promote The Fashion Records to the moment I learned about his background in the US Army, I just knew Max is, uniquely, helping others along the way to the top. Max Philisaire is a Haitian U.S Army Veteran, Fitness Model, Actor, and Celebrity Trainer. Look for him on the second Season 2 of Spike TV’s Deadliest Warrior.
Did I mention he has a killer “body of work” that reveals flexibility, intuitive eating and…a fascinating sculpture. Check out this Hot Choclates and Muscles man in his Essence feature.

First off – can we have a little background information – Where you live? How old you are? What motivates you? Inspires you?
I live in Los Angeles, CA. I’m 25 years old. Life motivates. Everything between its beginning to its end. People that live a great live inspire me to live better and people that have a rough life inspire me to help them live better.
What is your best attribute?
My best attribute is my mind. Everything about me starts and ends there. It’s my sense of purpose.
How do you go about marketing your business? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
I market myself online through my website, social networks such as Facebook, Myspace, and twitter. In person marketing has been the most successful because I’m able to engage the consumer. I’m able to make a connection in person, which makes more an impact on a consumer.
You are also a celebrity trainer. Who are some of the celebrities you have worked with?
I have worked with Movie directors, Actors, Singers, models. The names of clients I’ve worked with are confidential.
Your story is unique once we realize that your family left Haiti to come to America for a better life. What can you tell us about the most challenging part of moving to a new world to pursue your dreams and how you overcame that?
Moving to the states didn’t feel like much of a move at all. As long as I was with my family I was always at home. I’m sure that wasn’t the case for my parents since they had more responsibilities than I did at the age of 8. Some America children ridiculed me at school because I was from a third world country but I knew how to handle myself. That didn’t make moving here more challenging.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
That is a tough one, since I have been given such great advice. Treating others the way you would want to be treated is a great one. That would make the world a better place if everyone felt and lived that way.
You are basically a brand. You do so many things. How do you achieve balance in your life?
I achieve balance through self-awareness. We all have our gifts and are capable of achieving different things. Getting to know yourself and coming to grips with your purpose allows things to fall into place. What I do may seem a lot to some but feels just right to me.
What are some of the stresses and pressures involved with your business?
The entertainment business is very superficial but you get used to it. It’s entertainment, not real life so I’ve learned not to take certain things too seriously. There is less work for a black man in the industry but I believe that we have the power to provide more work for ourselves. Although there is stress and pressures, we have the ability to deal with them if we find it in ourselves.
Excluding yours, what company or brand do you admire the most?
I admire P. Diddy because he didn’t get comfortable with the music industry. He branched out into fashion. He is first a businessman. I like how Kim Kardashian took over the scene. She wasn’t in the entertainment business but saw an opportunity to capitalize on exposure in the media. Unlike many socialites, she has partnered up with GNC, Carls JR, E Reality TV, clothing store and a fragrance.
Give us 4 fitness/health tips……
1. Work smarter and not harder by doing a little bit of research and not working towards a goal clueless.
2. Diet will make or break you, so eat lean complete meals.
3. Health and Fitness is a lifestyle, not a race. People tend to rush to failure or stress over not seeing results by the date they would like to see a certain amount of change.
4. More exercise doesn’t mean more results. Like everything else in life, there needs to be a balance between exercise, rest, and diet.
The secret to getting achieving great results is that there is no secret. Like Nike says “Just Do It”
Favorite lyrics from a song?
I don’t memorize lyrics as much as I’d like to but off the top of my head I will quote T.I in the track “Live your life”- “Unhappy with your riches cause you’re piss poor morally.”
What are your future goals?
My future goal is to be in a better position to use my gifts to make the world a better place. To be on a bigger platform, so I’ll be able to reach more people. I’m achieving my goals today but 5 years from now I would like to have opened fitness facilities in poor cities throughout the states. I’d like to set up a program that will motivate homeless people to take better care of themselves.
Word you live by?
“Love and be loved”
